It's a historical neighborhood, and located right off Granby Street and on the Elizabeth River. It also butts up to Lafayette Park and the Norfolk Zoo. You can find single family homes here for anywhere from $180,000 to $600,000. The average price hovers around $250,000 to $400,000. You can get the same size house/yard for much less than you would in Ghent or Downtown Norfolk while still being in the same high school district as well (Maury).
One downside to this neighborhood: some houses (including mine) require flood insurance. Some others, however, do not. It really just depends on the house and where it's located.
Riverview is a great neighborhood to walk, enjoy the water, and you enjoy several restaurants on Granby Street by walking to them (less than 1 mile away or closer). Many of the homes are two-story, some three, and also include basements. These historical houses are in some cases very close to each other. And you get to know your neighbors well, because a lot of the homes have big front porches, so it really makes for a close-knit community.
Largely a single family home neighborhood, there are a few small apartments sprinkled in, but it is predominantly a residential neighborhood.
